Alamo Trust, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, contracted by the Texas General Land Office to manage the Alamo complex and tell the story of the Alamo to millions of visitors each year. Our mission is to create an unforgettable experience for visitors to learn about the Alamo's 300-year history, and to honor those who gave their lives here in the battle for Texas independence. Alamo Trust, Inc. staff manage all aspects of the daily operating functions and visitor experience at the Alamo. The organization is led by an Executive Director and includes departments that focus on Archaeology, Historical Research, Collections, Conservation, Education and Living History, Facilities, Finance, HR, IT, Marketing, Security, Visitor Services, and Retail Contractors.
POSITION SCOPE
The Exhibit Coordinator will be joining the Alamo Trust’s Collections, Curation, Conservation, and Archaeology team at a critical moment in the development of the Alamo Plan. A new Visitor Center and Museum (VCM) will open in 2027. The VCM includes 40,000 square feet of gallery space divided into eight galleries, and will feature multimedia experiences, manipulative interactives, and extensive casework to showcase the Alamo’s artifact collections. At that time, many artifacts currently on display at the Ralston Family Collections Center (RFCC) will move to the VCM and the RFCC will transition from hosting a long-term exhibition to hosting rotating temporary exhibits.
The Exhibit Coordinator will be joining the Alamo Trust team to review and oversee the fabrication and installation of the new long-term exhibits in the VCM, including coordinating with vendors and subconsultants in preparation for a fall 2027 opening. The Exhibit Coordinator will also be responsible for collaborating with the Director of Curation to establish a temporary exhibits program to begin in the RFCC in the spring of 2026. The Exhibit Coordinator will serve on all exhibit development teams for the RFCC alongside an exhibit developer, curator, subject-matter expert(s), and other relevant staff. This position will require excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills, experience in coordinating the development and implementation of museum exhibits, and an ability to work on a team.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Coordinate exhibition production.
• Maintain a master schedule of exhibit development, fabrication, installation, maintenance, deinstallation, etc., coordinating with ATI staff and external contractors.
• Logistical support for in-house and hired-out fabrication.
• Manage the storage of exhibition materials.
• Coordinate the installation and deinstallation of exhibitions.
• Coordinate and execute in-house production, such as mount making, label production, etc.
• Manage the delegation of exhibit production tasks, drawing on in-house talent and hiring and managing external contract labor.
• Manage and organize exhibit documents and budget in collaboration with designers, content developers, and curators.
• Work closely with colleagues to create a world-class visitor experience in the Alamo Visitor Center and Museum and the Ralston Family Collections Center.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Minimum 3 to 5 years exhibit development experience ideally gained within a cultural heritage institution.
• Exceptional communication and project management skills.
• An ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Experience working within a multidisciplinary team.
• Knowledge and experience related to exhibit production and fabrication.
• Ability to read and understand architectural design and fabrication shop drawings.
• B.A. in Museum Design, Museum Studies, or related field
